I should also note, that within that same post that I wrote, my own website was pinged by a link to a different article of mine that I linked to – so I know that the pingbacks are working. I received the pingback as soon as my post was published.
Does the Daily Prompt have to authorize the pingbacks before they post?

Thanks for putting up with a newbie. ??

www.remarpro.com distributes and documents the WordPress application but has no connection with any site running that software. You need to contact the site owner about this and that’s not something we can help you with.

I’m confused. I am the site owner, and I’m having a problem with pingbacks. Is this not the right forum to be posting on? I realize you are not the same as wordpress.com.
    thanks

Just to be sure we’re on the same page – I am the site owner, and my theme is Luminescence Lite. I realize you are not associated with the Daily Prompt on wordpress.com – my problem is with pingbacks that are not working on my site. I was simply using that reference as the example of my pingback problem. Sorry if I worded it wrong. If you could direct me as to where to post this, I’d appreciate it, because it needs to get fixed. Thankyou.

So you are saying that you are not getting pingbacks from Daily Prompt ?

    Thread Starter bipolar me

    (@atomicnumber3)

I wrote a post in response to the Daily Prompt Perspective page

I entered their url under the “send trackbacks” section of my post. It tells me that they were pinged. However, my post is not showing up in their comments. I did the same thing several days ago, and my article was listed under their comments. I’m confused as to what I did wrong, or why it’s not working this time around. As far as I know, I didn’t do anything different.

Also, all of these are checked under my settings:
Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article
Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)
Allow people to post comments on new articles

I’m sorry if I’m not making sense. ??

ok, the same thing just happened again.
I just wrote a post, replying to this Daily Prompt:
    https://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/11/21/daily-prompt-safety-first/

Here is my post on my website:
    https://lipstickandlithium.com/watchful-eye-reply-daily-prompt-safety-trigger-warning/

I entered the daily post’s above url under the “send trackbacks” heading, then hit “publish”. It tells me that the url was pinged.
But, my post is not listed in the comment posts, on the daily prompt page. Something is not working. I can’t think of any settings I have that would prevent them from getting my post.

Are there any plugins that I could unplug that are known to prevent pingbacks or trackbacks, or whatever you call them? Is there something that could be in my settings (other than the list of things that are already checked in above comment) that’s not right, that would prevent pingbacks or trackbacks? Forgive me if I use those terms interchangeably, I’m not too sure I understand the difference.

my post is not showing up in their comments.

Have you considered that they may not have been allowing pings? Or that they may trashed the first ping in error? That’s what I meant when I said that you really need to speak to the site’s owners about it. There’s nothing we can do here that would really help to troubleshoot this.

    Thread Starter bipolar me

    (@atomicnumber3)

No, they are definitely allowing pings – that’s the whole point of the prompt. Here is what is posted directly before the comments section on the Daily Prompt page:

“Comments are always closed on prompts. Pingbacks are enabled; if you link to the prompt post on your blog, your post will appear in the list below the prompt.”

If they trashed the first ping in error, possibly, but like I said – it just happened again today.

I just pinged them a few days ago, and it worked just fine. Now it doesn’t. I’m sure you’re extremely busy, so I’m sorry for coming to a “support forum” for help. I will fix it myself, and I’ll contact the site owner on wordpress, like you said – although when I did that earlier they told me to come here for help.

Am I misunderstanding what this forum is here for? Isn’t this where we come to troubleshoot problems we are having with our websites? My problem is, my pingbacks or throwbacks – whatever you call them – are not working. Just change this title to “Pingbacks and Trackbacks Not Working”, and forget about the wordpress thing. Is this not where I come to troubleshoot that?

Isn’t this where we come to troubleshoot problems we are having with our websites?

Yes but there’s a limit on what we can do. In fact, we can’t “do” anything other than advise you.

    Thread Starter bipolar me

    (@atomicnumber3)

Well, thanks for the advice ??

    I found the answer:
    I added
    /trackback/
to the end of the url I wanted to ping.
My post showed up instantly in their comments.
Just in case anyone else has this problem, try that, since it’s an easy fix.

    thanks
    babysteps…please…speak…slowly…newbie alert

Just to confirm – did you add ‘/trackback/’ at the end of URL to get pingbacks?
I’m having a similar problem – I’m running two wordpress servers (running 3.8.1) and pingbacks just don’t show up between each other when I test.
My I know which version are you running please?

I am having the exact same problem with posting on WordPress Daily Post. I can’t get ping backs to work and having trouble getting help for that. I’ll try the /trackback/….thanks

I don’t think that ever worked for me. I just ended up installing a really old version (1.5 or something) to test pingbacks.
