Pingback mystery??
-
My client’s site, https://www.musicafter50.com, is getting pingbacks every time my client posts a post on her own site with links to her own content using absolute links. Is this normal?
For example. She posts a blog post and within the blog post she links to other blog posts she’s posted. She used to use relative links to link to other internal posts; however, it was causing problems for her feedburner feeds – the links within posts through feedburner would be broken. So she is swapping out her relative links for absolute links, but every time she does, she gets a pingback comment on the post she’s linking to.
Example:
On her blog post located here: https://www.musicafter50.com/2009/11/doctor-marion-uses-music-to-get-the-elderly-out-of-wheelchairs/
she linked to another of her blog posts on the same site. On THAT post, a pingback automatically posted – see the last comment here: https://www.musicafter50.com/2009/08/harmonica-is-good-cheap-fun/Also odd to me, see in that comment “who” the pingback comment is posted by — the title of the original blog post is the author of the pingback comment.
Is this all normal behavior? She has to use absolute URLs, but she doesn’t want to have to keep deleting out all of these pingbacks.
Any help – or clarification of why this would be happening internally would be appreciated.
