pingback email / comments notification when we link to another article

    Hi,I switched to Antispam bee plugin 6 days ago and since we activated it, we’ve been getting comments and email notifications every time we link to another article on our website to moderate the pingback. We’ve also started getting spammy trackbacks/pingbacks from other websites too. I’ve turned on “Do not check trackbacks / pingbacks on Antispam Bee and it’s still happening every time we link to another article.

    This was not happening before and it only started some days ago when we left Akismet and moved to Antispam Bee.

    Please how do I solve this? It’s really frustrating.

    Hi @kanyiokeke

    if you have disabled the check on trackbacks/pingbacks it is exptected to get spam results. If ASB should check those, you need to enable those checks.

    Getting notifications about pending pingbacks could be correct if this is what is set in the WordPress discussion settings.

    What do want want as the end result? Not getting notifications and self pingbacks at all or just no notifications? Have you tried to allow these self-pings?

    The ”do not check trackbacks / pingbacks” was unticked before. I was getting the comments and emails notification.

    I ticked it and we are still getting the comments and email notifications.

    END RESULT: We do not want to receive comments and email notifications when we interlink to other articles.

    And this happens for every link added. so if an article has 4 links to previous articles, we get 4 emails and comments to approve it.

    This has never happened in almost 10 years that’s why we are worried.

    self pings are something what WordPress is doing. If you want to disable it, here is a post about it:

    Nothing wrong with it.

    ASB should get the spammy ones if the option not disabled.
