Ping services

  • If I use Ping-O-Matic’s server (rpc.pingomatic.com) as my update service, is there any reason to list any others at all? I know that is chosen by default and on the page that discusses this on wordpress I am not 100% clear as to whether or not anyone would have any benefit for any other update service, in addition to or as opposed to Ping-O-Matic’s server.

    I will use Feedburner if that matters.

    hehe, sorry, I have the same question… well was also wondering which of the following is true (both statements are from different websites):

    ‘A failing in WordPress is that the developers decided that every time you save a post, edit a post, or even schedule a post for future publishing is ping worthy. this is simply not the case. And if you are like me and you tend to edit your posts frequently, your site can actually be labeled as a ping spammer and banned from many ping services.’

    or

    ‘Pinging happens when your post is published, either by hitting the publish button, or when a scheduled post is published.’

    Sorry, just getting confused but a little concerned if the first is true!
