Pimp My Blog

  • This is just a random idea I had. Feel free to ignore it completely and treat it as trash. But I’ll share it anyway, because bad ideas shouldn’t be kept to oneself. [Disclaimer: I don’t think I could actually contribute much to it, since I’m not much of a coder (though I do have some artistic capabilities).]
    Anyway, I saw that MTV show “Pimp My Ride” and thought it would be funny to see a “Pimp My Blog” contest where someone’s rather plain WordPress Blog gets outfitted with the all the doo-dads and funky design that WordPress folks can muster.
    Like I said, this is a goofy stoopid idea. I just posted it because I’m at work and I’m bored.

  • It would be entertaining – but you would first have to find someone who is an excellent designer.
    But yeah, a goofy idea. Might be cool after WordPress has gained more expanded use.

    Shoot I am a newbie…I would for someone to pimp my blog. I can’t get that photo thing to work for the life of me.

    Good idea!
    You could use it to promote switching to WP by selecting people who use MT, Blogger, etc. and showing how much more badass they could be on WordPress.

    Well, I’m glad to see some folks like the idea. Who knows what might be possible? I really liked the edition of “Pimp My Ride” where they put Lamborghini (flying wing) doors on a Honda. I wonder what the equivalent would be in a “Pimp My Blog” makeover? I’m sure some of the designers/coders could accomplish some pretty amazing things.
    OK… back to work (sigh).

    and an LCD screen with PS2??? now THAT would be tough

    That sounds like a really good way to promote WordPress, I would definitely throw my hat into the ring to help out with the “pimping”. Could even make a good idea for a separate site pimpmywordpress.com maybe? ??

    Well it is registered and I created an account on my VPS for it, just have to install WordPress on it but that won’t be tonight as I need to get a good night’s sleep tonight.

    If anyone wants to come up with a theme for the site then please do as I’m more of a technical guy with part time design skills. ??

    Should I set it up with a development build like my own site or with a stable build? I can deal with any technical problems that come up with the development build but any such issues obviously can’t be discussed on these forums as the forums are for stable versions only.
