Picture uploading….icon says URL

  • hello wordpressers,

    I just got WP installed on my home PC(latest xampp, WordPress on WinXP Prof with SP2) and its working. I can post messages and see then etc., Actually i would want to see how things work first before uploading to my webhost.

    My first hitch is with pictures uploaded into a post….they dont show:

    Fine, so lets say I want to create a new post, and upload a pictture, I click on the icon “insert/edit-image”, and the next small screen that pops up shows “image url and image description fields”.

    1) is this the proper way to upload pictures into a post, as in insert pictures into a post?
    2) how do i select graphics from my hard-disk. I was thinking something like see a “browse” icon which i could use to locate the files to be added to the post, and then ill just click on “post”
