Picture caption issue in WordPress 4.4

I’ve inspected the images and code using Firebug and it looks like there is no image tag eg. <img src=…. /> associated with the second image that should appear. And there is a class called ‘wp-caption-text’ that is displaying the path to your second image on the post.

How are you adding the images to each post?

Sorry I’ve misread your initial issue.

It looks like code for an additional image that is showing up on your sites when it should be text.

If you have backed up your site’s before the upgrade perhaps you need to revert back to the previous WordPress version and try manually upgrading WordPress again?

I’ve done one of the things I should have done in the first place and disabled all plugins: problem solved. Now I need to isolate the perpetrator. Percolator and Sherlock Holmes hat at the ready! Many thanks for your help, Adeline; you’re right … reversion would have been the next move.

It turns out that the problem disappears if the Automatic Links plugin is deactivated.

That’s excellent you found a fix but if you can’t avoid using that particular plugin, I would try to post your issue within the Plugin topic of this forum. I’m sure you’ll be able to find further assistance.

Sound advice. Automatic Links hasn’t been updated for six years. I found an alternative plugin – Auto-hyperlink URLs – which fulfils the same functions but doesn’t break captions. I’ll post a heads-up in the Plugins area.

I’ll know for future reference if there are issues after an upgrade to try deactivating and reactivating plugins. That’s good to know!
