Picolight with one or two columns

Doing a non-blog website. Want a theme which is easy to “clean up” the blog artifacts after turning off discussion. I picked Picolight because it has a simple file structure, and was easy to remove the blog artifacts. Now I would like to have a choice of 1 or 2 column pages. I saw a discussion where this got started, but the author chose to use a different theme after all. Right now the only options in page atributes are parent and order.

Would it be easy to add 1 or 2 column option? New WordPress user.

Or should I choose a different theme? I need custom header, custom background and custom colors.
