    Hi,

I’m new to WordPress and have recently set a free one up at WordPress.com, but now looking to get a bit more serious– anyone have feedback on WordPress hosting at Mydomain.com?

I’ve been using Mydomain.com for quite some time (years) to buy and redirect domain names for various other accounts and have been very pleased with their service in that area, so thought it might be simplest to try them out for WP hosting as well. They list WP hosting as part of their Linux Starter package at https://www.mydomain.com/webhosting/webhosting_pkg_starter.php, but I’m wondering about real-world installation and running experience… how easy is it to setup w/ them, comments on-going performance, etc. I’m not all that tech when it comes to database installation and setups, so I’m ideally looking for something reliable but also easy to setup.

BTW, I was seriously looking at Yahoo!’s WP hosting plan since they make installation and auto WP upgrades sound easy. But the feedback on them here hasn’t been too stellar, although I migth take another look at them if anyone has something more recent/better to report?

    Thanks much,
    KV

  • I’ve always gone with “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” Hosting Insiders offers a good starter plan for about three bucks a month.

    NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Do NOT, use Yahoo! hosting. They are far and away the worst hosting company I have ever had to deal with.

Go with asmallorange.com, mediatemple.net, or bluehost.com. Those three are universally recommended.

Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback. Just to follow-up in case someone asks a similar question, I ended up taking the “eggs” approach above– registered the domains w/ MyDomain.com, but will host w/ one of the providers mentioned in this support group (likely Site5 or Blue).

    Thanks again,
    KV

I chose bluehost.com because of their good reviews. Autoinstallation of wordpress was ridiculously simple. After that you’re on your own of course.

I just signed up with BlueHost. How do I do the auto install?
