php/mysql question from a newbie

i want to have a Page in my blog that querys a mysql database i’ve created on my server and then displays the result in the same Page.

i’ve written the php script and it works just fine outside of wordpress. it querys the db and dynamically generates the table i want.

problem 1: how do i get the php script into a Page. the page editor rejects my php.

problem 2: once i get the script going, will i have any problem querying a different db than wrdp1 from within wrdp1?
