• Since a few days ago I started receiving this error message every hour:

PHP Warning: escapeshellcmd() has been disabled for security reasons in /wp-includes/PHPMailer/PHPMailer.php on line 1779

When I changed the ELM email frequency – the frequency of the errors changed with it demonstrating ELM to be the cause. Has something changed in version 1.7 ?

    Can you help ?

I don’t think there were any email related changes in the latest update.

Judging by the error message, the immediate problem is that WordPress is trying to use Sendmail to send ELM’s email notifications but the server’s configuration doesn’t allow that. This is unusual – as far as I know, WordPress generally uses the PHP mail() function by default, not Sendmail.

Have you installed or updated any email related plugins recently? For example, some contact form plugins, newsletter plugins, and similar tools could affect how WordPress sends email.

Alternatively, have there been any recent changes the PHP configuration that might have disabled the escapeshellcmd() function?
