Hummm I see this in the plugin specs:

“Supported on all current PHP versions (5.2 – 7.0)”

However, trying to activate the plugin after installation returns this:

“This plugin requires WordPress 4.0 or greater, and PHP 5.4 or greater. You are currently running WordPress 4.4 and PHP 5.3.3. Please contact your website host or server administrator for more information. The plugin has been deactivated.”

In the same server I have a different installation of WP and the plugin runs well! Note: the plugin was previously installed in this second installation but never in the installation with the error issue.

    Any ideas? Comments?

Another plugin was causing the issue.

I met the same problem too. and any activating plugin will get this error message. My current php is 5.4 and wordpress is 4.4.

Torgut, could you tell me which is “Another plugin”?

I know the problem. I install “Add From Server plugin”, which preventes me from activating ALL THE OTHER plugins.
