• Hello,

I have been using the Lodestar Theme and am happy with my website.

For some time I have had messages such as : Your site is running an insecure version of PHP (5.6.40), and should be updated.

Whenever I have tried to update PHP in the past, it has broken my website and Bluehost have been able to fix it for me.

Today I received an email from Bluehost saying that I would no longer be able to use older versions of PHP.

I really hope that I don’t need to rebuild my website from scratch, does anybody know if it is possible for me to continue using the Lodestar Theme with an updated PHP?

If I have no alternative but to start again with a new theme, is there another theme similar to Lodestar that anyone would recommend?

    Many Thanks
    James

  • Hi there,

Lodestar isn’t being developed anymore. However, you can use the PHP Compatibility Checker plugin to see if it is compatible with newer PHP versions.

    Thank you

    Hi there,

    I did test this theme also local on PHP7.3 / PH7.4 / PHP8.0

And can say to you that will work! I got to know this theme really well in last 3 years. And I did turn it upside down to use fully custom fork of this theme.

When you run in to any trouble with this theme willing to help out. I’m not the developer but got to know this theme very well over the years.

    Best regards,
    Edwin`

Hi Edwin, thank you very much for your message, I really appreciate it. Yesterday, I reluctantly rebuilt my site with a new theme – it wasn’t exactly the same in the end but I got it pretty close. Cheers, James
