PHP Parse Error After Updating to 7.1.0

Same problem.

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘?’ in */public_html/wp-content/plugins/recent-posts-widget-with-thumbnails/recent-posts-widget-with-thumbnails.php on line 472

Version of PHP 5.6.40
WordPress 5.8

Yes, same error on all four of my sites. I’ve had to disable the plugin.

Hi Guys. Thank you for reaching out.
We have dropped the PHP 5 support so, this message comes because you are not using the recommanded PHP 7.
I will provide an update today wich gives a better note about this.
If you still need to run PHP 5.x please downgrade to the latest version with PHP 5 support.

I decided to switch back to PHP 5 support.
Recently published version 7.1.1 does support PHP 5.2 and above again.
