PHP Out of memory errors

    Our site, https://www.4boards.co.uk regularly suffers PHP Fatal Errors due to running out of memory, however, the PHP limit is set to 512mb.

    Our support person does not know of any reason for this, can anyone help?

    I raised this with our host, Eukhost, they came back with:

    According to your update, we have checked & found that the domain was exceeding the php memory limit than its allocated limit. We have updated the php memory limit upto 256 MB which is the maximum limit that can be set for our shared server’s accounts.

    Further we have increased the wordpress memory limit too.

    The database has also been optimized for the same.

    This might help regarding the issue.

    Since then, we are still getting regular PHP Out of memory issues, can anyone please help.

    Despite being up-to-date with WordPress, Woocommerce and all plugins, we still get regular out-of-memory problems. Only issue is PHP version, we are working with host to migrate to new sever with PHP 5.4 or higher.

    There is plenty of resource available, wp_memory_limit is 512mb.

    This is causing our customers to think twice about revisiting our site of they experience an out-of-memory issue.

    Is there a WordPress / Woocommerce expert out there who could help identify the root cause for this problem? Happy to pay reasonable rate.

    I’m getting a similar error. I noticed my server is also running PHP 5.3.29. WP recommendation is
    “PHP version 5.2.4 or greater (recommended: PHP 5.4 or greater)”

    Perhaps that is at the root of this issue?

    PHP 5.4 is recommended, you should at least upgrade.

    However, here’s the where we are now status; in short, we were getting to many errors and the site was running really slow for users so we bit the bullet, ditched SHARED HOSTING and moved to VPS service. Now have a very responsive site, no errors since migration.

    There were a few problems with migration, forgot to update email details in Configure SMTP plugin from shared hosting general email service to own server email. Also, DNS needs updating for email as well as the host name propagation (which was much quicker than expected).

    So – If you are really serious about a WordPress / Woocommerce site, especially if you have lots of product lines, don’t penny pinch by using a shared hosting environment.

    My client’s site is on a dedicated managed server, so that’s not the issue.

    We are running a bunch of plugins, including WPML. I suspect it to be the culprit of most of the out of memory errors.
