PHP Notice: screen_icon is deprecated since 3.8.0 with no alternative available.

  • When using WP_DEBUG, in wp-config.php, the Updates Notifier page displays
    PHP Notice: screen_icon is deprecated since 3.8.0 with no alternative available.

    I needed to hack the plugin and remove the line:
    <?php screen_icon(); ?>
    from line 556 in wp-updates-notifier.php file.
