Been waiting to be able to utilize NextGen again since shut down with the latest 2.2.16-8 versions when using PHP 7+. Now I see in https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=75573 that a PHP fix is scheduled for Jan 4th. Then we will likely need to wait for that fixed PHP version to become available at our hosts. Will a workaround NextGen version be available to safely use PHP 7+ before the scheduled PHP fix? Or do other options exist besides reverting to PHP 5.xx to use this gallery again while waiting for the PHP fix?

  • @labres We’ve been working on this and finally have a work around. This copy of NextGEN 2.2.20 should run with any version of PHP (including the bugged versions: 7.0.26, 7.1.12, 7.2RC6, and 7.2.0). Feel free to give it a try and let us know if you have issues.

We’d like to get a few confirmations before we release it officially.

NextGEN 2.2.20 was installed on 2 multisites today. It is working well during initial testing. We use the plugin mostly in the NextGEN Basic Thumbnails mode. The PHP version is 7.0.26.
Thanks very much for your support.
