PHP Errors / 403s

Error logs continue to fill up with PHP errors / 403s for images. For example:
PHP Warning: fopen(https://xxxxxxxx.com/images/imagename.jpg): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden
in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/amp/includes/lib/class-fastimage.php on line 31The image folder is writable with the permission of 755. Any help would be greatly appreciated
