PHP error with Contact form 7

  • Contact form 7 caused the following error:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘namespace’ (T_NAMESPACE), expecting identifier (T_STRING) in /home/content/94/11030494/html/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/includes/rest-api.php on line 15

    I updated the PHP to 8.0. This did not fix the error. I then deleted the plugin via FTP. Still had the error. I have since reinstalled contact form 7 plugin and don’t really know what to do from here. Your help would be greatly appreciated
