I get the following message after selecting the .wie file and clicking import:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /plugins/widget-importer-exporter/includes/import.php on line 192

Fatal error: [] operator not supported for strings in /plugins/widget-importer-exporter/includes/import.php on line 215

I am importing the widgets from another instance of my wordpress site on another domain.

    Hello,

Could you try deactivating all other plugins and see if the issue goes away? If so, it would indicate a plugin conflict.

If that doesn’t work, try switching temporarily to the default Twenty Fourteen theme to test if the issue goes away. If it does, that would indicate a theme issue.

Otherwise, could you get in touch by email and send me your .wie file? I’ll give it a test. https://stevengliebe.com/contact/

    Thank you.

I managed to get the plugin to work by doing the widget import before installing the theme and restoring all the other files. Must be a conflict with the them as I tried deactivating all the plugins and that didn’t do any good.

That’s interesting. It may have something to do with the theme’s widget areas then. What theme is it?

Msocial by Gavick Pro who recommend your plugin ironically.

Thank you. If I see this error again I’ll check which theme is being used in case there is some connection. It still could be some other factor, though.
