PHP eating up server resources — WordPress to blame?
-
Hello-
I am running a WordPress site that gets high but not out-of-control traffic (roughly 10,000 pageviews and 6,000 unique visitors on a typical weekday). My web host recently informed that I’m eating up a lot of server resources, and that PHP is the cause. I’m investigating PHP resoruces too, but was wondering if anyone encountered a problem like this with their WordPress install at this traffic level. When I was informed of the problem, I was running WP 1.5, but I’ve since upgraded to 2.0.2 and the problem has not been resolved. For what it’s worth, I’m running PHP 4.4.2 and Apache 1.3.34 on a shared Linux server (kernel version 2.6.9-34.ELsmp).
I’m also running a PHPBB install under the same domain, but as the WordPress site gets 90 percent of the domain’s traffic it seems more likely be a problem with WordPress.
Thanks in advance,
jf
