php and wordpress – unable to update either

  • I cannot update php on my server as my wordpress prevents me from accessing my site when I do. And then, I cannot update to the current version of WP without updating WP. So, I am stuck. Any suggestions? thanks

    yes, I update through my cpanel at networksolutions

    I get this message at top of webpage after updating to php7 with plugins deactivated, “Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.”

    I have this message in my WP cpanel… You cannot update because WordPress 5.3.2 requires PHP version 5.6.20 or higher. You are running version 5.3.29-pl0-gentoo.
