I generated a compatibility report on my hosting and got many errors related to:
    /wp-content/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/vendor_prefixed/phpseclib/phpseclib/phpseclib/Crypt/Common/SymmetricKey.php

Extension ‘mcrypt’ is deprecat…/mcrypt once available instead

This is the same for multiple websites. NOTE: the plugin does seem to function fine using PHP 8.0

    Hi @frank6tg,

    Thank you for your patience!

As I have checked with our developers, we can confirm that code is located in the vendor library. However, we don’t use that functionality.

In that case, you can safely ignore those notices. As we have tested, the WP Mail SMTP plugin is fully functional on PHP v8.0.x.

    I hope this helps. Thanks!

I’m also curious about this one – if that functionality is not used, and it’s producing PHP8 errors, can it be removed in the next release?

    Hi @aditron,

As I have checked with our developers, you can ignore those PHP notices coming from the vendor libraries, and it doesn’t cause any issues.

As we have tested, there are no fatal errors, and the WP Mail SMTP plugin is functioning properly as expected.

    Thanks!
