• Tried to install/activate WP Double Opt-In Mailing List plugin. Got the following error message:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR, expecting ‘)’ in /home/content/w/e/s/wesnathan/html/naturalmaleenhancementproductsnew/wp-content/plugins/g-lock-double-opt-in-manager/glsft-optin.php on line 3218

I then upgraded WP to 2.8.4. Tried it again. Same result. I have my hosting account with Go-Daddy. Uses Linix.

Went to the author’s website/blog. Couldn’t find a solution. Maybe I just missed it. Suggestions appreciated.

    Wes

Tried it. The code lines are not numbered, at least not in the PlugIns Editor.

I suppose its possible Go Daddy hasn’t upgraded to PHP 5. I doubt it but I’ll check.

Well, you have a syntax error in the PHP, and the error message tells you exactly where the error is, give or take a few lines maybe. You’ll need to download the file via ftp and open it in a text editor that can number the lines for you. If you are using Windows, download Crimson. Its free and will do a fine job of text editing.

    Hi,

It seems that plugin g-lock-double-opt-in-manager is not compatible with the latest version please disable/remove it and have a check with your blog.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

I had the same problem, the issue was with the PHP configuration of my web-hoster.

The default for .php files was PHP 4 instead of PHP 5.

Changed the setting in the hosting configuration and now it works.
[alternative might be to use an older version of g-lock double opt-in manager, but I didn’t try that]
