PHP 5.6 required?

vendor/composer/autoload_static.phphas syntax that requires PHP 5.6, which is failing a syntax check git hook. But it seems the plugin works fine on PHP 5.5 (locally). Is PHP 5.6 or greater required for the plugin or if not, can this file be altered to be PHP 5.5 compatible?
