• On my “About Me” tab, there are photos with writing I have not done. I don’t know how to stop this or fix the page. I have a small paragraph on the page and that is all I wanted for now, how to I get this template stuff off.

  • Please provide a link to your site.

That’s called “Lorem Ipsum” – it’s just placeholder text and images that WordPress (and many other services) pre-populate to give you an idea of how your pages will look once you put in your own content (easier to choose a theme when you can see how text and images show up on the page than if it was empty).

Okay…so how do I get it off? I am a new author and trying to develop the website with next to no knowledge of how to design a website. I have tried to figure out how to turn the placeholder text and images but am coming up empty.
It’s too expensive to hire a web designer so I’m shooting from the hip here….help!!!
I do like the idea for when I am ready to put maybe some of my own photos or other book images….but I don’t even see instructions on how to do any of it.
    Would love some instructions….for this not-so-techie person… ??

Kindly provide the url at least !

There are hundreds or thousands resources all around the web which will be helpful for you. This is also a resource like that!

it will help if you can post the name and download link of your theme, and post a link to your site.

    without this info, anybody can only guess;

possibly you need to enter some info into the ‘biographical info’ under dashboard – users – your profile about yourself

or search the dashboard for any theme options…

I’m using Elegant WordPress Themes/Feather Theme

I’ve entered information, but maybe I didn’t profile it right??

I’m beginning to think maybe I should hire a web designer….someone that understands all the techie end of it. Does anyone have someone affordable they recommend? I am an author, trying to break into the business so money is very, very tight….so not a lot of funds to work with.

    Yes its right.

Okay…so how do I get it off?

After you login to WordPress (https://www.cjvermote.com/wp-login.php), if you load the desired to be changed pages / posts on your browser, you will see an Edit link below the texts. Click it to edit. This is the easiest way.

About Me is actually a link on navigation bar.

You want a functional website. That does not require a web designer if the theme has an easy structure. Activate default Twenty Twelve and start writing. You will get more help for the default theme as all knows its structure.
It is more important to understand the basic functions of WordPress than the design, during the initial period. When you will know the basics, you will yourself understand which theme is good and which is bad. Honestly, if a web designer creates a badly coded theme, you will unable to understand now that it is bad.

with commercial themes, it is the best if you appproach the theme’s seller for support – which is part of what you pay for.

imho, particular instructions on how to change default sample texts within your theme should come from the theme’s author.

I just looked at your site and don’t see any errant text… did you figure it out, or am I just missing it?

I may have just figured it out. I found I had to replace the sample_images in my Feather folder. Then I opened each post separately, dumped the text and now I’m trying to post some of my own photos with captions. The only issue I’m having now is the sizing. I checked the sizing of the pics I dumped and they were 12kb. I resized my to the same or less and not getting them to work so that is what I’m doing now.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts, help, ideas and input.
