• A friend shared on of my posts on Facebook. I noticed my image was upside down. When I attempted to post the same page the image was still upside down.

The photo was originally taken upside down. I rotated it and updated the page. The image looks fine on the page, but posts upside down.

I have another image that posts sideways. It’s a vertical picture of a champagne glass.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Gwen Jefferson Skinner

  • When I have had this problem in the past, it is because I forgot to save the photo before I uploaded it again. I would try flipping the original photo, saving it, then upload it again.

If that still doesn’t work, you might be able to turn it in the FB post. Click on the link below:

    Hope this helps!

Elizabeth, I deleted the photo, saved the page. But when I previewed it and clicked the FB share button the photo still appeared, upsidedown. I may take the page down entirely and re-create it.

    Check it out for yourself.

If you click the FB share button, do you see a range top with open shelves photo upside down? That’s my dilemma.

The link you suggested would work if I were uploading the photo only.

    Thanks for your help.

You might try entering your url into this link: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

It will give you feedback on what it is pulling into FB. If there is a problem with your picture, for example: too big, too small, etc., it should let you know. It should also clear the FB cache for your post.

Facebook is using their own “cache” whenever they refer to an external post, page, image, etc.

If someone likes or shares a post, and then you change the contents of the post, Facebook will still show the old content (or preview) for a while.

One way is to delete the original post altogether and create a brand new post with a different URL.

Another way is to put this tag in the header of your page:

    <meta property="og:image" content="https://gwenslens.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140814_141250-750x410.jpg" />

Basically, it’s just Facebook who’s being stubborn, and you need to tell them what the real image is.

The FB Debugger tool worked. Thank you both for all you help.

    Glad it worked for you!
