Photos not showing up

Just loaded wordpress on to my site hosted by 123-reg. I already have one version working in another directory and loaded this version to a different directory direct from the 123-reg site cgi scripts resource. I’ve done this before and it all worked fine.

I can access WP fine via the admin log in however no pictures are showing up. They upload fine appear as a broken picture icon. I checked in an FTP client and the pictures have been uploaded ok.. i can open and display them from the ftp client.

When you click on the blank photo box on the page view I get this error:
“You don’t have permission to access /XXXXXXX/wp-content/uploads/00112.png on this server”

any help appreciated.
