• hi there, i am relatively new to wordpress – this is the first website i have created using this format, but cant seem to figure this out after a week of trying.

    This is my website https://daisyeventphotography.co.uk/wordpress/

On the homepage at the top there is supposed to be 4 photos (called pic 1 – 4 until i rename them properly) but they wont appear.

The template im using is this one
https://www.imaginemthemes.com/themes/?theme=Echoes although this is the white version.

I have put a support message for the owner of the template a week ago but have not had a response and have emailed them too.

From what i have worked out the 4 photos to be shown need to be in a category which i have called ‘wedding photography test’ and i have put 4 posts in there each with a link to the image (called pic 1 – 4). if you click on the small rectangular box then this links to the photos but each of the photos dont show up on the homepage.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to make this work?

    thanks in advance

    melanie

  • Hi Melanie

I’m getting a similar problem at the moment on some of my blogs, where random pictures don’t appear and instead I get the ‘whirly circle’. I’ve also got a problem on one where the pics do appear but still have the ‘whirly circle’ over the top.

But while I find a solution to that problem I just wanted to make an observation about the other graphics on your home page (the ones above the four categories). They take an age to load and I can only think that this is because the size of your graphics is quite large and they are being scaled to fit the spaces you’ve created for them.

It might be worth resizing those photos in photoshop or whatever so that the pixel width and height match exactly how they’ll be displayed. This will give a smaller file size and also stop the scaling so should speed up the load time.

fingers crossed we get the other problem sorted.

thanks for that michelle – will reduce the size of the images so they load quicker.

i got the whirly circle too – then the photo doesnt load.

fingers crossed they sort it out as its an integral part of my website!

I’m still having this problem and can’t figure out what is happening.

Each time I load a page on my blog (particularly where there are lots of thumbnails), a random subset of those thumbnails don’t display – instead the alt text and a whirly circle are displayed (by that I mean the modern day equivalent of the eggtimer i.e. wait I’m doing something).

If I press F5 to refresh the page I get the same problem but then some of the images that were there no longer are and others that were missing before are now there.

I’m guessing it’s something to do with timthumb but don’t know where to start to try to fix it.

    Can anyone else help?
