• In some of my photos it seems that my head gets cut off in the preview photo? Any suggestions as to how it can be fixed and how to add the media for the future so this doesnt happen?

The plug-in is sort of great? I used it placed the hot spots on my face and still I am cut off on my main page. It must be the template?

What’s the website address and which image is the problem?

This is just a guess, but I’ve had similar issues.

I think the problem is that’s a tall thin image, with the person’s head right at the top.

Although that plugin’s really useful, it won’t be able to crop images with unusual dimensions, no matter where you put the hotspots. It works best on square or 3 x 2 ratio or similar images.

If you didn’t crop the image before uploading it, might work better. Or not, some images just don’t work well as thumbnails.

Also, I think maybe you needed to upload larger (in terms of width and height) images in order for WordPress to create identically sized thumbnails.

And in Settings > Images do you have the check box checked below the thumbnail setting?

?? I had to crop the image before upload b/c WP limits the size you can upload. Whats weird I used the same method to crop other photos and I can see my head ??

Do you have a suggested size? I edited my photos in Photoshop..But per your suggestion where would I find Settings > Images? I looked and could not find it.

Dashboard > Settings > media (sorry, my mistake)
That only affects images added from now on, but a plugin called Regenerate Thumbnails fixes that.

Suggested size? I couldn’t say. Depends on your needs, your WordPress theme, etc. But the more out of proportion wider or taller an image gets, the less easy it is to have thumbnails that behave nicely.

I rarely get it right first time, and try various image dimensions until I settle on one that works for that website.

?? I had to crop the image before upload b/c WP limits the size you can upload.

It limits the filesize, not the width and height. So long as you optimise your images first, you should be able to upload large, quality images.

I tend to crop landscape images to 1,400 px wide and save them as 90% quality JPGs – and WP has no problem loading them.
