    I am using WordPress 2.7.1

When I upload a post using the WordPress Iphone application (and it seems from Ecto and Iblogger as well), instead of the picture displaying correctly, I just get lines of code like this:

    p>a href=”https://www.wilsons.id.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/p-480-319-740de145-9641-4318-af0c-20b0c99d64e1.jpeg”>img src=”https://www.wilsons.id.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/p-480-319-740de145-9641-4318-af0c-20b0c99d64e1.jpeg” alt=”” width=”199″ height=”300″ class=”alignnone size-full wp-image-364″ />/a>/p>

It seems that there is some incompatibility here. Can anyone please help.

I have reinstalled WordPress already and tried uploading without any plugins but it does not make any difference.

  • josephscott: I deactivated all of my plugins. Same result.

To answer your question about whether or not I’m able to upload via the Media area in the WordPress admin, I am. I can upload when writing a post, in bulk, with no problems at all.

I have another WordPress blog on the same server at https://cdevroe.com/flip/ – It is a completely separate installation with its own set of plugins. I tried uploading there with the same result as my normal blog. I deactivated all plugins there also, and tried that.

This is definitely server related, it would seem, I just don’t know what to tell Dreamhost to update.

It could even be a combination of the libxml and something Dreamhost changed around the time you began to experience the problem I suppose…

What was the order of events? Did it work fine without the libxml and then begin to fail – at which point you installed the libxml? Or did you have the libxml installed some time before it stopped working?

Keep us posted on what they say about changes around the time you began to experience the problem…

jb6262: I installed libxml patch plugin because it wasn’t working. As hard as I try to think of anything that I may have changed to make it stop working, I can’t think of anything.

Fixed. I replaced the xmlrpc.php file with one that I downloaded for www.remarpro.com and everything seems to be working now. I wish I had kept the old one so that I could have compared the two but on a whim I replaced the file and it worked. (Even after I compared their relative sizes and they were both the same.)

To give a bit more detail: I always update using the internal core updater. So I wonder if that doesn’t replace the file correctly, or at least didn’t in this case? I’m afraid I have more questions than answers.

I’ll try to do some digging after my vacation and update this thread accordingly. Thanks to everyone for all their help on this. It has been frustrating but as it is with many things, it was something simple and easily overlooked.

Thanks cdevroe for posting your solution – perhaps that will help someone else too. Feel free to contact back after your vacation – hope it’s a good one!

Same problem and same solution. Wasn’t showing uploaded pics so i upgraded to 2.8.2 via internal upgrader and it didn’t work. Downloaded from www.remarpro.com and uploaded xmlrpc.php and it works!
