Photon wordpress.com CDN locations

We have servers all around the world, in multiple countries, so it would be hard to list them all. ??

To find out about the CDN location the closest to your server or to your home, you could run a traceroute on one of Photon’s domains, like so:

traceroute i0.wp.com

If you’re interested in coverage in a specific part of the world, let me know and I’ll list the locations the closest to that city / country.

Thanks for the reply. The server that has the site on is in the UK but we are looking to speed things up in Asia and China specifically.

If your readers are in China, you’ll want to avoid Photon. Like many other online publishing platforms, most WordPress.com services are blocked by the Great Firewall of China. That includes the Photon service.

As a result, if you were to enable Photon, your Chinese readers wouldn’t see any of your images unless they use a VPN to bypass the block.

Since other Jetpack modules include resources that are loaded directly from WordPress.com, Jetpack in general is probably not a good idea if most of your readership is in China.
If you’d like to use Jetpack, I’d recommend that you enable Jetpack’s Development mode to stick to modules that do not interact with WordPress.com:
