  • Unfortunately, no… the only option to cache invalidate with Photon is to actually contact automatics, and they will invalidate individual images… seriously, just don’t bother with photon until Jetpack gets its act together, use cloudflare or luminary or something.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

As @wpsmartcrop mentioned, that isn’t possible. However, contacting our support team to invalidate cache for individual images won’t help either.
Photon doesn’t actually use any of the thumbnails created by WordPress when you upload an image, and when you edit that image inside WordPress’ image editor or through a plugin. Photon only uses the original image, and creates several resized versions of that image:

    • A new resized version is created for each new thumbnail size used by your theme.
    • A new image is created if your theme is responsive, and smaller versions of images are needed on smaller devices.
    • A new image is created if readers access your site from Retina or HiDPi devices with a higher pixel density. For those devices, you want to serve larger images when possible, instead of using an original thumbnail that may end up looking a bit pixellated on a Retina device.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

    Thanks Jeremy

I’ve had to disable Photon for the time being, as I need to control the crop on some.
