Photography, File Size and Resolution

Hello, i am putting together a photography blog and a thought occurred about image size. Right now i am using a retina display laptop so it important to make the blog retina compatible, so i was planning on uploading all of my images at 1200px. But i know resolution is going to get even better, and i am going to be uploading several images/posts a week for years to come. Should i consider uploading even larger images in effort to keep up with future screen resolutions. What are your thoughts?

Keep in mind that i dont care if people can download my full size images, in fact i allow them too.
