    Good morning!

I’m looking for the best way to manage/show photos on my site. I’ve just installed NextGen, which appears to be great…lots of options with the free version. I’ll use this plugin in particular when I create a page for my photo gallery, but I also want to embed photos in my blog posts. A photo here, text there and photos within the post.I’d like to be able to allow (or not allow) people to click on the image and show it in a lightbox fashion. So the layout might be similar to a magazine story. I’d also want to be able to embed a YouTube or Vimeo video.

Will adding another media-based plugin conflict with NextGen? Any suggestions on that additional plugin? Or will NextGen work?

    Thanks for any help!
    Chris

    Hello, ipaddle4fun,

Are you using the Block Editor (Gutenberg) or the Classic Editor? If you are using the Block editor there are block patterns just for the kind of layout you describe, and you can specify if you want the photo to open in a lightbox. Some blocks with wider capabilities are available through various plugins.

I am not familiar with the photo plugin you are using, but it may have a setting for images that are added in the Classic Editor using the Add Media button at the top of the editor.

The best practice, when trying any new plugins and checking for functionality and conflicts, is to try them on a local development site or a staging site on your host. You can contact your hosting company to see if they offer that and get help setting it up.
