    If the photo of the day is in an album that has its ‘Photos are zoomable’ setting set to ‘no’ instead of ‘default’ or ‘yes’, the controls will not show up when using shortcode [wppa type="photo" photo="#potd"]. In the potd widget they will not show up anyway.
    You can also suppress it by using inline settings, see:

    and shortcode sequence:

    [wppa_set name="wppa_zoom_on" value="no"]
[wppa type="photo" photo="#potd"]
[wppa_set]

    Although this only works when the albums ‘Photos are zoomable’ setting is ‘default’
