Photo Loading in Galleries Inconsistent

  • So I have a photo gallery-intensive site. And the photos I have uploaded to the media repository range anywhere from 4-8Mb.

    When I first set this up, I had no problems with the photos loading on the protfolio pages. They are embedded galleries.
    Now, sporadically, some photos will load, some will not load, and then there are the dreaded half-loads (the photo loads part way, then ceases and the rest remains gray)
    Some times I will see only the file name label (ex. D750_0123.jpg) in the place where the image should show up.

    I have JetPack and W3 Total Cache installed.

    Second Issue:
    Also – it would appear the photos are all stored on wp.com servers. My web hosting agreement with GoDaddy allows me unlimited storage – is there a way to move the photos to my own account, and maybe improve the performance of the loads?

    One solution I was going to try was to decrease the size of the images that I load to the media gallery. But that is a labor intensive effort. Any thoughts.

    Can you disable all other non essential plugins and reproduce the issue?

    Those half-loads sound more like a server issue rather than a front-end issue (with my plugin).

    What I would highly advise you to do is use lower resolution images for the preview in the slider and only link the full sized ones behind them.

    And I couldn’t find any images hosted on third party domain on your site.
