Phone number field is hidden

Apologies for the trouble with the phone number field. We haven’t been able to reproduce this issue on our end, though. In order to better assist you, could you please provide more details about your setup? Specifically, kindly confirm that phone number is a required field in your regular checkout and whether you are using the payment method “in3”.
Also, we are interested in a copy of your WooCommerce system report.

there were 8 people discussing about the missing phone number field. There was plenty of useful information related to the missing phone number. Would you bring back that discussion? Hiding it doesn’t really help.

Phone number was required. It was showing up for a few seconds and then hidden by javascript (not css). We don’t use in3.

The missing phone number field is definitely connected to the /public/js/mollieIn3.min.js file, the file is loaded regardless if the In3 method is enabled or not. That is easy to test: deactivate the In3 payment method and then check on the frontend if the mollieIn3.min.js file is loaded or not. The phone number isn’t always removed. Only by repeatedly refreshing the page sometimes the phone number is removed.

The phone number is removed upon the JS “updated_checkout payment_method_selected” trigger. The JS code attempts in fact to replace the phone number code with some other HTML code, but that happens only depending on the value of the input[name=”payment_method”] field. I assume that field’s value is also changed sometime after the page load and, depending if the “payment_method_selected” happens before or after this change, it replaces the phone number field with “NULL” or with desired HTML code. (It is hard deciphering the minified mollieIn.min.js file).

Anyway, would you please make sure to load the mollieIn3.min.js file only when the In3 payment method is activated. That would solve a lot of headaches for most of us.

And please don’t remove posts from this discussion. This is definitely counterproductive.

Thank you for sharing the system report. The in3 JavaScript file is loaded despite the gateway being disabled, which is not the expected behavior.

We haven’t been able to reproduce this behavior so far, so I recommend performing a conflict test by disabling all plugins except for WooCommerce and Mollie to rule out potential compatibility issues with a third-party plugin.
This is usually best done on a separate staging site or e.g. with the Health Check plugin. This allows you to disable all plugins only for yourself while other website visitors are still seeing your regular site as normal.

Please let us know if the problem persists for you with only WooCommerce and Mollie active. Thank you!

While this behavior likely results from the molliein3.js file loading, it is unclear if the file is also loading for the same reason for everyone.

@niklasinpsyde That’s what I already mentioned in my first post. Deactivating all other plugins except Mollie and WooCommerce did NOT solve the problem.

Other people have the same issue so it weird that you can’t reproduce the same issue…

Apologies, I overlooked that part.

No, we haven’t been able to reproduce it so far. When disabling the in3 payment gateway, the JavaScript file is no longer enqueued for us. While some users report this behavior, it doesn’t appear to impact everyone, as otherwise, there would be even more reports.
But the team is improving the custom field logic for the in3 gateway regardless of our ongoing investigation into this issue.

For now, the best workaround would probably be a downgrade to version 7.3.7 until we figure out the common config between all reporters.

When in doubt, I recommend additionally contacting the Mollie Support Team directly, so the team can collect more information about affected users to aid the investigation.

We’ve exactly the same problem on multiple website. When is Mollie investigating this problem serious and fix it?

This is a big problem for a lot of our customers and not an ‘we can’t reproduce’ so it doesn’t exist size problem.

I’ve had the issue now on multiple websites that are completely different. The only thing they are using that is the same is WooCmmefce and the Mollie plugin. Deactivating Mollie saves all the issues but that’s not a solution obviously.

I asked Mollie but the only thing they say, is to use the single page checkout for now. Then the phonenumber field is visible. Its not what I want but it makes payments possible again.
But what pagebuilder have you used on the checkout page?

We still haven’t been able to reproduce this behavior internally, but the team is reworking the field logic for the next update.
So if you are encountering any problems with the phone field on version 7.3.9, our primary recommendation is a downgrade to version 7.3.7.
This allows you to keep your desired phone field configuration.

A new update will be released sometime in mid-July, which should resolve the issue. Here is the GitHub issue for this problem: https://github.com/mollie/WooCommerce/issues/794
Once a fix is implemented, this GitHub issue will be closed, and we’ll try to provide another status update in case anyone is interested in testing the proposed fix before the next update is officially released.

Same problem here, this is the second time within a month I have to downgrade this plugin on multiple websites due to different issues. I will not recommend Mollie to my clients anymore.

Edit: had to downgrade to 7.3.7 in order to fix this issue.

Because the team hasn’t been able to reproduce the problem. We must ask for your understanding that when you encounter a problem, and possibly a hand full of other users do as well, it doesn’t necessarily mean that everybody encounters the same behavior.

The team has performed many tests in different configurations similar to the ones from affected users. Still, suppose we cannot reproduce the behavior and receive no feedback from users who encounter the problem. In that case, we cannot verify if the proposed fix actually resolves the reported issue.

The latest update 7.3.10 includes a change that was meant to fix the problem but it turned out that it did achieve the desired result.
We wouldn’t know before the release if we cannot reproduce the issue and also don’t get feedback from affected users about it.

When will there be a fix?

Since we learned after the 7.3.10 release that the issue persists for some users, the team has come up with a different fix that should hopefully resolve the core of the problem. A new beta version with the proposed fix will likely be available here in GitHub in the coming days, with an official release happening a few days later.

In the meantime, one way to work around the behavior is a downgrade to version 7.3.7 as previously mentioned.

A second workaround may be to enable the in3 payment method in the Mollie dashboard. Then refresh the payment method list in the Mollie plugin settings so the in3 gateway settings are accessible. Then open the in3 gateway settings and disable the gateway. in3 could then be disabled again in the Mollie dashboard.
This should also resolve the issue.
