• The new release of WP 4.9.6 includes a personal data export option. This extracts the user’s details as expected but it also appears to include ALL of the images from the media library for some reason under the heading “Media”. If the media library included staff images for example (or anyone else) other than the particular user, is this sharing other persons personal data (i.e. photos) without permission under GDPR ? Surely it should only include photos of the particular user (not sure how it would do this without some form of tagging on each image).

It’s showing all of the images uploaded by that user, not photos of that user.

@scalarent but the user will get the files they already uploaded. So logically speaking they already have a copy of those files..

If I upload an image of you on a wordpress site and then it is included in the exported data file it doesn’t really make any difference.

Its not like this tool will be used in a corporate environment anyway.

    Thanks for clarifying guys.

I think the data export is a great idea, but it is not mature yet. For example, they show the media uploaded but not the posts are written.

@newtowp18 I guess the idea was taken from Facebook which works in a similar way. Unless im mistaken, you don’t get exported everything you ever posted.

@sgurygf Still should include all the content created and not only the pictures/figures.
