• Hi,

We uninstalled WooCommerce a while ago by using the “remove all data” method for a clean uninstall per the instructions on one of your webpages. However, despite clearing browser/server/CDN caches as well, we have found that the following cookies are persistent.

    Cookie “History.store”
    Cookie “wc_cart_hash_*”

Unsetting them did not work either. How do we permanently remove them please?

    Thank you in advance.

May I know where are you finding the above cookies?
On a computer that you used to visit your site?

If you are using Chrome, you can follow this guide to remove specific cookies:

I hope this points you in the right direction.

@kosiew it is not a local cache cookie issue. As mentioned “However, despite clearing browser/server/CDN caches as well, we have found that the following cookies are persistent.

    Cookie “History.store”
    Cookie “wc_cart_hash_*”

Woocommerce does not uninstall in a clean manner and leaves behind many files, unless one takes extra steps which we did! The cookies are being picked up by a well-known cookie compliance manager (a few that we have tried actually).

    Hi there,

    > Woocommerce does not uninstall in a clean manner and leaves behind many files

Uninstalling WooCommerce is an action on the server. It does not clean up anything on your computer (client) that you use to uninstall WooCommerce.

I am not sure where the confusion is. The cookies are being picked up by a GDPR cookie manager regardless of what “client” (or browser for that matter) is used, i.e. different computers and mobile computers.

Those are cookies set by your plugin for our website. We have long deleted WooCommerce from the server, yet the two entries above still show up. Why? Should we be fishing around in the database to look for these stray entries?

Pointing us to Chrome to delete cookies is not the answer unfortunately.

Do you visit other WooCommerce sites?

    Hi there,

    NOT resolved.

    Hi there,

The cookies could come from other WooCommerce sites that you visit.

NO, we do not. To be clear, as previously mentioned, this support ticket refers to GDPR requirements for OUR wordpress website from which we deleted woocommerce using the clean method to get rid of all stray files it leaves behind if uninstalled the regular way. We are referring to GDPR as it relates to OUR website. Why is every single cookie manager plugin picking up WooCommerce cookies when it has been uninstalled? Is there some stray code still causing this?

Links to your website explaining what we mean.

Is there anyone else in support who can address this please? Thank you.

    Hi there,

You have uninstalled WooCommerce on your site.

Therefore, whatever WooCommerce cookie you’re picking up on your computer is not coming from your site.

    (@shihtzurescue)

In theory yes but the cookies are very much present on OUR website. Not some other site as you keep mentioning but OURS. It is a mystery how different cookie plugins pick your cookies up.

I guess based on this circular conversation that there is no resolution. We all know how WooCommerce leaves stray files when it is uninstalled. There does not seem anyone who can provide a reasonable explanation as to how to remove these cookies set by WooCommerce.
