Persist plugin options during “automatic updates”

  • What is the recommended approach to persist plugin options during an automatic upgrade?

    Currently my plugin tidies up after itself and removes the options in the deactivate hook, however, the automatic upgrade process also triggers the deactivation hook.

    Any ideas?
