permlinks and postname and/or pagename

Greetings WP aficionados:
I’m a relative newcomer to WP, reaching out for help with permalinks. Having read other threads, I’ve tried about everything I can to no avail.

I want my permalinks to be named after pages. Example:
instead of: https://www.kregelwindmillfactorymuseum.org/?page_id=80
I would like: https://www.kregelwindmillfactorymuseum.org/donate

I’ve tried permalinks under settings in a variety of configurations and alternations, no dice.

Any advice? Thanks
