Is there a way to allow users that are not admins, specifically users I have set as “Authors” to have access to this plugin? Currently, I have a user that I want only to have Author level access but I would like them to have access to this plugin. However, as an “Author” they do not get the option under Settings to access the Alert Bar.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give on this.

    Sincerely,

    Joe

  • Hello Paratrooper Joe,

Thanks for your suggestion and sorry for the delay in responding.

We really liked your idea to allow different roles to change the Alert Bar settings. After considering it though, we don’t think it’s something we will be adding for the time being.

In case you are wondering why, the reason is that the plugin’s settings page is based around the WP Settings API.

On the Settings API page, it says:

NOTE: When using the Settings API, the form posts to wp-admin/options.php which provides fairly strict capabilities checking. Users will need ‘manage_options’ capability (and in MultiSite will have to be a Super Admin) to submit the form.
