• Hello, I have recently set up a blog with wordpress and have the following problem: when I try to upload something it tells that there is no permission to write. I noticed that wordpress didn’t ask me for my ftp account so I looked for it but found nothing.

    What can I do?

    Thanks in advance.

  • What were you uploading from within WP, an image maybe?
And what was the exact wording for “…no permission to write ….”?

I tried to upload a theme.
The message I got was this (in spanish): No se pudo crear el directorio /home/a1425403/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2010/02. Asegúrate de que el servidor tiene permisos de escritura para el directorio superior.

Translated: The directory could not be created in /home/a1425403/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2010/02. Make sure the server has writing permissions to the superior directory.

    Hi Wofo,

Under Dashboard/Settings/Miscelleneous you have selected the setting: “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders′

You can deselect it or try to change other settings so that WP can create this monthly directory which it would also need to make for uploading images.
Set the admission rights (chmod) wp-content to 0755 and uploads to 0777

But maybe your host has set the server safemode on and then it′s a no go. Then just deselect the monthly setting.
