• I am attempting to upload themes to my wpcontent folder and and being denied becuase of permissions. I attempt to set permissions to 666 in my ftp client for that folder (or any folder including the wordpress folder) and and get the message, “Server response: could not change perms on wp-content: Bad file descriptor” Help?

  • Folders should be 777 actually.

I’m wondering who has ownership of the directory. You may have to get your host to make the change for you as they can do it as root.

    I cannot do 777 either

Bad file descriptor errors on a *NIX system arent good news: inode issue, corrupted filesystem, etc..

    windows, I dunno.

either way, its something that someone with root needs to take care of.

as for the proper permissions, drmike was spot on 755.
