    Hi,

After an update of my website, I lost Connections under the Dashboard. The address book is still online but I cannot add any data anymore.
I tried with the Toolbar (it shows up) or going through the plugin menu, it tells me that I don’t have sufficient permission.
I tried to disable some plugins (problem is that I need all of them) without success.
I disabled and reinstalled Connections without success.
I’m now on WordPress 3.7.1 using the Origin Theme (2.0) from Elegant Themes.
The folder right is 755 (and recursive).

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Changing folder permissions would not effect the access to admin pages so I recommend undoing any of those changes.

I do not think I’ve ever run across this issue before… Can you please try something? Go to the Connections : Roles admin page and put a check in the Reset All Role Capabilities box and click the update button … ahhh, never mind, not thinking, you can not get to the admin pages…

Any chance that I can get a temp admin account so I can take a closer look?

    Marking resolved.

Seems somehow the role capability settings for Connections were either removed or somehow corrupted. Manually resetting them resolved the access issues,

I’m having this exact problem can you tell me how you manually reset the role capabilites.

    Thanks

Here’s an alternative solution that I put together so you can easily fix it…

    Install the Code Snippets plugin.
    Download and unzip this file.
Import the code snippet XML file, search.code-snippets.xml, into Code Snippets. See the FAQs on where to find the import feature.
    Activate the newly imported snippet.

It seems that somehow once in awhile the custom capabilities for Connection are corrupted or removed. This Snippet will reset them. Activate this Snippet and verify that you can access the Connections admin pages. Then deactivate this Snippet. If you do not deactivate this Snippet, the role capabilities will be reset on every page load and that would be bad.
