    Hello,
after upgrading to the latest version, Editor type users get the warning about not being allowed to access that page.

What can I do about it?

    Hi @emarketmedia

    I hope you’re well today!

Since the updated Broken Link Checker includes two “engines” – one being the “old” Broken Link Checker (which is the same plugin as it used to be) and one being completely new – there is a difference in access.

    Depending on the plugin settings:

    1. if you are still using the old version (have enabled “Broken Lins (Old)” engine), then editors should still have access to it via the “Link Checker -> Broken Links (Old)” page. However, it’s possible that after update some settings got unexpectedly lost and you may need to go to “Link Checker -> Settings (Old) -> Advanced” page and make sure that he option “Editor and above” is set there (even though it applies to dashboard widget only) and also re-save settings and clear cache on site/server

    2. if you have switched to the new version – then yes, unfortunately Editors currently don’t have access to it. Even if they could access it, they’d only see generic result (numbers) on that page and to see detailed report they’d need to be able to go to the scan page in the Hub – which is only available to the owner of the account registered with us.

You can, however, set scheduled scan in “Link Checker -> BLC 2.0 Beta” and you can add your editor(s) as recipients of scan reports – they will receive an e-mail report about scan results.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Thanks for your reply.

I’m using Broken Lins (Old), I’ve selected “Editor and above” and saved again. Then I flushed cache. No difference at all.

Same problem on both 2 websites that I updated.

    Hi @emarketmedia

I make a full review of this case and all works as it should. Editor and above refers to widget on dashboard page. So Editor and above still have access to page URL:
/wp-admin/wp-admin/index.php where BLC widget is displayed. It has nothing to do with old BLC page URL:
    /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=link-checker-settings
    where only admin can access.

With new URLs structure editor and above still have access to:
    /wp-admin/wp-admin/admin.php?page=view-broken-links

    but only admin can access:
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=link-checker-settings

I guess that is the place where you see the error. In short nothing has change. If however you ware able to see that old page as editor, it means you used some 3rd party plugin to allow that. If so, you will need to correct your settings in this matter.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris
