• Here’s my problem. I installed WordPress on my domain and added a few posts. Then I wanted to change my permalinks, so I modified my .htaccess file to be writeable, so I could change my permalinks. But now I get the following error:

You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/ on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I tried deleting and re-installing the .htacess file. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

  • Have you tried just deleting the .htaccess file?

Yes, I deleted the .htaccess file but still get the error. I also searched some forums that said putting an alternate code in the .htaccess file might work. I tried adding this code:

    “SecFilterInheritance Off”

and now I’m getting this on my home page:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I gave up looking for the solution and re-installed WordPress. This time I’ll be smart enough to back up ??
