Permission denied for file creation

Might it be a WordPress issue? There was a change to the way WP handles FTP which is apparently now causing issues on certain server setups, with mine turning out to be one of them. As far as I’m aware, nothing’s changed on the server, but following the upgrade to 4.4, I can’t update any plugins via the Dashboard despite appropriate permissions and correct FTP details.

Perhaps this is a related issue? After a recent upgrade of wpDiscuz, I was encountering a similar error, but was able to fix it after I changed the permissions on the temp folder from 755 to 777. Now neither works.

Assuming it’s not related to the FTP issues in 4.4 – which will apparently be fixed in a forthcoming update by reverting to the 4.3 method – am I correct in saying that you’d like FTP access to my site to help troubleshoot the issue?

Incidentally, I’ve tried the commonly suggested workaround for the FTP problem and that didn’t resolve this particular issue, so it would appear to be unrelated.

In the meantime I’m not using the CAPTCHA and the anti-spam plugin I’m using isn’t letting any spam through, so I can certainly get by for now it would seem.

Problem is fixed in wpDiscuz 3.1.4 version. We’re planning to release it this week.

Great news, thanks! The Stop Spammers plugin has been keeping things clean without the CAPTCHA enabled, but it’ll definitely be good to have it back, for that extra layer of security on guest posts.
