permission codes

The WP site works fine, however, from time to time the access permission codes in the home directory changes from 0755 to 0750. This occurs without making any changes to site or creating any sort posts. The error message 404 comes up when addresses the site. It just happens and I manually make the permission code change back to 0755 in the cpanel and access is permitted.

Any ideas?
